The Charterhouse Parish church

The parish church is located in what used to be the monastery’s chapter house and refectory. Following a fire which damaged the medieval church in the 18th century, the monks were forced to use the existing buildings for their church.

In particular, it contains some beautiful gothic stalls dating from the late 15th century and three 17th-century paintings depicting Saint Charles Borromeo, Saint Bruno, founder of the Carthusian order, and Saint Sebastian, a copy of the famous distemper painting by Andrea Mantegna in Mantua circa 1480, preserved at the Louvre Museum.
