Located at the centre of the charterhouse, it served the church, refectory and chapter house.

At the centre of the cloister, the wrought iron cross displays the Carthusians’ motto: “Stat crux dum volvitur orbis” (The cross is steady while the world is turning), a reminder of the primacy of the spiritual over the temporal (life in the secular community).
